Summer Beach Staple: The Yellow Playsuit

by notsomousybrown

There’s no doubt that this summer I’ve added lots of colour to my wardrobe. Colourful dresses and playsuits definitely didn’t used to be my style, but they’ve made up the majority of my outfits over the past few months. Yellow is a favourite colour for me at the moment so it’s no surprise that this playsuit ended up in my wardrobe. This yellow playsuit from ASOS is the ultimate beach staple and was perfect for my summer trips to Devon and Cornwall this year.

I love the fruity pattern and frilly hem on this playsuit, making it different to any other item I have. At the back of the playsuit is a bow which can be tied as loose or tight as I want, meaning the fit can be adjusted really easily. The straps are wide enough so that the playsuit doesn’t drop down too low and can sit nicely on my shoulders. Because the material is so comfy, it’s brilliant for a beach day (and it’s sea breeze proof – tried and tested!)

Here, I’ve paired the playsuit with a denim jacket and my Converse for a casual, beach day look. A denim jacket contrasts nicely with the yellow and goes well over the playsuit when the weather isn’t so warm. I think this look doesn’t have to be just for the beach – it’s a comfortable, daytime outfit that can be worn while the weather is still warm enough.

Whilst I was in Cornwall, I transitioned the playsuit to the evening too, wearing it with jute wedges for a meal out. With a faux leather jacket thrown over the top on a cooler evening, this playsuit would definitely work as an evening outfit. There are so many ways to style this playsuit and it’s turned out to be more versatile than I first thought.

If you want to keep the summer alive, this Monki Fruit Playsuit is £25 from ASOS here. I would say the playsuit is on the pricey side, but it’s an item that can be worn day and night and I know I’ll be wearing it for many summers to come. ASOS is great for finding summer dresses and playsuits in all sorts of colours and styles and I’ll be keeping an eye on their transitional pieces over the next few months.
