On a normal work morning, doing my makeup is something that has to be done rather than something I want to do. I much prefer doing my makeup at the weekend or for going out at night as I’m not in a rush. Knowing my morning makeup routine well and using products that I love makes doing pre-work makeup a bit more enjoyable. For obvious reasons, I’m completely out of work routine at the moment, but I thought I’d share my usual morning makeup routine anyway (it’ll help me remember too)!
After using moisturiser, I start my makeup by using Lily Lolo’s Mineral Corrector in shade ‘Blush Away’ to reduce the appearance of any blemishes or red marks. I find the corrector is better than concealer at hiding red areas and it’s a product I can’t be without. After the corrector, I apply Lily Lolo’s Mineral Foundation in shade ‘China Doll’ all over my face, and use Lily Lolo’s Mineral Concealer in shade ‘Barely Beige’ under my eyes. Since discovering Lily Lolo’s mineral range, it’s all I really use for my base makeup, as I much prefer the powder form of the products. The mineral form does brilliantly at preventing shine and the shades match perfectly to my skin tone. I finish off my base makeup with Benefit’s The Porefessional Face Primer, as it makes my pores less visible when put over the top of my foundation.
Eyes and Brows
My eye makeup is the part that takes me the longest, but it’s the bit I enjoy most! After making sure my eyebrows don’t need plucking, I apply a little of NYX’s Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer to my eyelids so my eyeshadow goes on easily. I don’t always use the same eyeshadow palette for work makeup, but at the moment I’m liking Lily Lolo’s Opulence Eye Palette, using the first two shades in the photo blended together for a basic, daytime look. This palette was a special around Christmas time, but I like the similar shades of the Laid Bare Eye Palette too. Once my eyeshadow is in place, I use a little of Lily Lolo’s Eyebrow Duo in shade ‘Medium’ for natural looking brows. Again, I like the powder form rather than a pencil as I find it easier to apply. I finish off my eye makeup with Lily Lolo’s Natural Eye Pencil in black on my waterline and L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
Sometimes in the mornings, I’ll simply use Vaseline Rosy Lips, as it stops my lips from getting dry and gives them a pink tint. If I’m feeling a bit more fancy and have more time, I use Lily Lolo’s Natural Lipstick in shade ‘Romantic Rose’ over the top, as it’s a subtle pink colour that isn’t too overwhelming for early in the morning!
I’d say that this morning makeup routine is my most basic makeup and I use other products for the weekends and going out. For the morning though, I think this isn’t too overwhelming and means I don’t have to stress too much about my makeup before I go to work!
