Eiffel Tower

by notsomousybrown

Seeing the Eiffel Tower in real life is something I’ve always wanted to do. Looking at photos of the amazing building is just not the same as being stood underneath the enormous tower. We made the decision to go to the Eiffel Tower at night rather than in the daytime, and I’m so glad we had the chance to see it all lit up.

We managed to walk all the way to the Eiffel Tower from our hotel near the Louvre without getting lost or giving up halfway. As we approached the tower, it became clear to me just how huge it was, and I think I completely underestimated how high it reached up! We’d bought tickets to go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the very reasonable price of 12.50 Euros (for ages 12-24). However, I have a fear of heights and as we got closer I began to realise I might not make it to the second floor, let alone the top.

I decided that even going to the second floor would be too much for me, so we ended up admiring the tower from the ground, having walked miles to see it up close. I think simply being so close to the Eiffel Tower was an amazing experience, and seeing it at night made it all the more special. It looked beautiful lit up against the night sky and we stayed for long enough to see the pretty flashing lights come on all over the tower, a sight I’ll always remember. I was quite surprised at how well my night time iPhone photos of the tower turned out, and I’m really glad I managed to take good enough photos to share on my blog.

In short, I’d say even if you don’t fancy going up the Eiffel Tower, it’s definitely worth a visit to get an up close perspective from the ground. If you’re planning a trip to Paris, seeing the tower at night time is the first thing I’d recommend planning to do, as it really is magnificent. I’m so glad that I’ve had the opportunity to see the Eiffel Tower in real life, and hopefully one day I’ll have the courage to go up it (even if only to the second floor!)

If you’re not afraid of heights and want to go up the Eiffel Tower, all the opening times and ticket prices can be found here.
