Now we’ve reached May and the weather is (hopefully) starting to get warmer, I wanted to have a think about the Spring makeup and skincare essentials that I’ll be relying on. I love this time of year for trying out new products as well as using some of the old reliables that I reach for all year round. As I like writing beauty round ups, I wanted to share 5 Spring makeup and skincare products that I’ll be using over the next few months as part of my daily routine.
I rarely find a day cream that suits my skin well, but this Nivea Day Cream for sensitive skin is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Because it’s specifically tailored to sensitive skin and free of perfume, it’s gentle on the skin and doesn’t cause redness or breakouts like I’ve had before with other moisturisers. I love that it has an SPF15 as it means that my skin is always protected from sunlight. It’s become part of my morning skincare routine and it really does keep my skin feeling moisturised and free of dry skin all day.
2 – Eyes: Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I always like trying out different mascaras and this one from Maybelline is one of my favourites yet. The Lash Sensational Mascara provides the perfect mix of length and volume and leaves lashes looking visibly longer with just a few layers. It’s ideal for everyday wear as it’s so easy to apply and doesn’t clump, and the brush picks up even the tiniest lashes in the corners of my eyes. This mascara definitely lived up to its good reviews and I will be re-buying!
3 – Eyebrows: Lily Lolo Eyebrow Duo
This is an old favourite of mine and a product that I’ve been using for a while! Lily Lolo’s Eyebrow Duo is the perfect product for keeping brows looking natural and defining their shape. Because I have quite dark eyebrow hairs, I use the Medium shade to fill in any gaps in my eyebrows in a way that looks natural. I like the pressed powder consistency and the wax is useful for keeping brows in place. In the Spring, I only use a little bit of product each time to keep brows as natural looking as possible, and the powder always lasts a long time.
4 – Lips: Nivea Hydro Care Caring Lip Balm SPF15 *
As well as skin, it’s important to keep lips protected from the sun too, and that’s why I use Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm with an SPF15. This lip balm really does leave lips feeling soft and provides a quick fix if my lips start to feel dry. This is my favourite Nivea lip balm that I’ve tried as it noticeably makes lips feel moisturised with the added bonus of sun protection. I’ll be using this in the Spring and into the Summer to make sure my lips stay protected and hydrated.
5 – Nails: Barry M Gelly Nail Paint Rhubarb
Barry M has always been a brand that I love when it comes to nail varnishes, and I recently picked up this ‘Rhubarb’ shade to try. It looks quite dark for a Spring shade but it actually works really well with a lot of the outfits I wear in Spring. The nail varnish applies well and even just one layer provides a thick coating that lasts well (with a top coat). The shade is a dark purply pink which I prefer to some of the brighter pink shades and it gives nails a lovely shine that will last for a few days without chipping.
