For a long time I’ve been looking for the perfect “good” coat for the Winter, one that would feature as part of my outfit. Up until recently I’d seen lots of coats that were a similar style to this one, but they just weren’t me or didn’t quite tick all the boxes I wanted them to. Turns out the reason I hadn’t found what I was looking for was because I hadn’t looked in Zara. That’s when I found this lovely textured coat that was just my style!
One thing that sets this coat apart is the hints of red and yellow thread that are mixed in with the more neutral colours, a subtle addition which makes it more interesting. The coat itself is thicker than it looks and really does keep me warm on cold days. I think it’s the perfect mix of style and practicality, another reason I couldn’t walk away without it.
Here, I’ve paired the coat with a dress from New Look (which can’t really be seen in the photos), black tights, heeled boots and a yellow scarf and bag to add a bit of colour. I’m really liking yellow as a colour for my wardrobe this Winter, so the hint of yellow in the coat works well with a few items I already have. This is definitely a more dressed up Winter look for me, perfect for a meal out at a restaurant or drinks on a cold evening.
I particularly like the coat with dresses or skirts, but it also works with jeans and flat boots for a more casual occasion. Despite the hints of red and yellow, the coat works well with any colour, especially block colours which contrast nicely to its textured pattern.
The only downside of this coat is the price – it doesn’t come cheap! It’s currently £89.99 full price and can be found on Zara’s website here. I justified this price by thinking about the longevity of it. I know it’ll last me for many years and will maintain its quality, and it’s a style that I don’t think will be going out of fashion anytime soon. It’s definitely an investment piece and one that I don’t regret making!
