I love stumbling across items that are truly vintage, but I never thought my dad’s wardrobe would hold anything that I’d want to wear (trust me). I was wrong. Believe it or not, this Levi’s jacket belonged to my dad in the 80s, and whilst clearing out his wardrobe he was reunited with it. Knowing that it was something he would never wear again, he was ready to get rid of it, but I wasn’t going to let a denim jacket like this go to waste! It’s a little on the large side, but the jacket is now mine, and needless to say I’m very happy with the latest addition to my denim-filled wardrobe.
Because the jacket is definitely oversized for me, I’ve found that it goes best over a dress rather than with a pair of jeans. Here, I’ve paired it with a floral black dress from ASOS (which has a vintage look itself), a black belt from Next and heeled boots from Pull&Bear. I think that the colours on my dress and the boots contrast well with the blue denim jacket and somehow the dress makes the jacket look smaller than it actually is. The outfit is just right for this time of year, as the dress definitely says Spring and the jacket is quite bulky, meaning that it keeps me warm if the air is a bit more chilly.
On its own, the dress can look quite formal, but the denim jacket works well at keeping it more casual, making the dress more versatile so that I don’t have to save it only for special occasions. The rolled up sleeves also add to the casual look (although I have to do that as the sleeves are very long). The fact that the jacket is Levi’s means that it is very well-made and it has clearly stood the test of time, so I’m confident I’ll get no end of wear out of it.
Unfortunately, you wouldn’t be able to buy this particular Levi’s jacket as new anymore, but if I was looking for a similar one myself, a vintage or charity shop would be the first place I’d try. Although, if you are looking to buy one, I’d definitely try it on, as this one is quite heavy and does weigh me down after a while! Still, it has come straight out of the 80s, and I could never let a denim jacket like this one be put to waste.

Aw I love this idea! I picked up a Levi jacket from a local car boot sale and wear it in a similar style, they’re so timeless and easy to work into a current wardrobe!
