Off the shoulder and cropped doesn’t sound like the kind of top I’d usually wear. Normally I’d pick either/or, so to find a top that I liked that was both, was something a bit different for me. I love anything with a stripy pattern, so it’s no surprise that I wanted to buy this top. The feature I’m really drawn to is the sleeves – they’re so pretty and I love how they puff out and gather. For a really hot day, this is the ideal thing to wear as it keeps me really cool whilst still looking like I’ve made an effort with what I’m wearing!
I’ve made an exception to my “no jeans in the summer” rule here by pairing the top with my Topshop Leigh jeans (from a few years ago), as they are cropped and aren’t too tight. I think that wearing something simple like jeans with this top doesn’t take away from its pretty details. To finish the outfit, I wore my jute wedges from Pull&Bear, as I like the blue and grey colour combinations and the slight heel goes well with these jeans.
I just love the gathered design of this top and it’s easy to dress it up or down depending on the occasion. Trainers and jeans work well for nipping out in the day time, or add heels to transition to the evening. In the summer, this is the ideal versatile, off the shoulder top that looks stylish whilst still being comfortable in the heat. I think it works best with blue denim, either a skirt or jeans, and it can be made to look as casual or dressed up as I want it to!
This gathered off the shoulder top is currently £7.99 in the Pull&Bear sale here, which I think is a brilliant price! As well as blue, it comes in “Ice” and a black gingham pattern, which are both lovely designs for the summer. I found some Topshop jeans that are quite similar to mine here for £42.00, which is quite expensive but I think the quality is reflected in the price. I think this is a simple outfit that works really well in the summer, and I’m glad I took the plunge and tried out a style of top that was new to me!
