Nail Care Essentials *

by notsomousybrown

Anyone who knows me will know that I love looking after my nails. It’s always been part of my weekly routine to look after my nails myself and I love trying out new shades of varnish. A bit of nail self care can go a long way, and having the right products and tools makes it all the more enjoyable. I thought I’d share some of the nail products that I’m loving at the moment, all of which I’d recommend if you want to give your nails a bit of care!

Nail Scissors For Nail Care Rubis Nail Scissors – £23.50 *

Swiss brand Rubis are renowned for their quality products, and their nail scissors are no different. The scissors cut nails to length perfectly without breaking the remaining nail underneath. My nails really look more tidy after using the scissors and they work really well if your nails grow long quickly like mine do. Whilst the scissors are on the more expensive side, I haven’t come across scissors of such good quality before. The price definitely reflects how well made the scissors are and I know that they will last a very long time without becoming blunt!

*These scissors were kindly gifted to me by Rubis/Sparkle PR.

Nail Varnish For Nail CareRevolution Nail Varnishes – from £3.00

Until this week I hadn’t tried Revolution nail varnishes before. I received a few different shades for my birthday and couldn’t wait to give them a go. I first tried the pinky shade “Dusk” and I was instantly in love with the colour! The brush was really easy to use and is shaped in a way that means the varnish doesn’t run off the nails. Just one layer of the varnish creates a lovely colour when dried, meaning that a bottle will last longer as I don’t have to layer up. I can’t wait to try the other shades I have (“Grape” and the glittery “Twinkle” shade), and with prices starting at £3.00 I’ll be having a good look at Revolution’s other shades too!

Barry M Wet Set Quick Dry Top Coat – £2.99

A good top coat is a must if you do your own nails to prevent them chipping, and my favourite is Barry M’s Wet Set Top Coat. Once nail varnish has dried, applying the top coat helps to set it in place and adds a nice gloss over the top of the colour. Barry M’s top coat is excellent value for money and I was amazed at how quickly it dries! After less than a minute, my nails are completely dry, and the top coat really does help to make my nail varnish last longer without chipping or peeling.

Sainsbury’s Nail Polish Remover Pads – £1.00

I have used a lot of different nail varnish remover pads before, but I think Sainsbury’s own brand pads are my favourite! Nail varnish comes off easily with the pads, even with a top coat on the nails. The pads don’t dry out if they’re kept sealed properly, and with 15 in a box they will last for a good while. At just £1.00 they really are brilliant value and I think I’ll be sticking with these ones from now on!
