My Summer Makeup Essentials This Year

by notsomousybrown

I think summer is my favourite time of year to try different makeup looks, as I tend to be more colourful with my eyes, lips and nails. On the hottest days, it’s important to get my summer makeup right and keep it minimal or it melts straight off my face! I’m all for trying new makeup products whilst also sticking with some of my old reliables too, so I thought I’d share 4 summer makeup essentials that I’ll be making full use of this year.

Summer Makeup EssentialsFace: Benefit The Porefessional Pearl Primer Mini

After using the original The Porefessional Primer by Benefit and loving it, I thought I’d give the Pearl Primer a try, as I liked the idea that it reduced dullness as well as pores. The Pearl Primer is now my favourite version of the primer as it works to reduce pores and give my skin a nice glow. The pinky colour of the primer suits my skin well and I can use just a little bit of product to cover my cheeks. I’d recommend the mini version as it’s a good size to give the product a try, and now I know I love it I’ll be looking at the full size product next!

Eyes: Lily Lolo Mineral Eye Shadow – ‘Parma Violet’

As lilac has become my favourite colour this year, I couldn’t resist investing in a lilac eyeshadow shade. As I know I love Lily Lolo’s eyeshadow, I chose the ‘Parma Violet’ shade from their individual mineral eye shadows. Even though the pot is quite small, the eyeshadow is highly pigmented and is really visible on my eyelids. It’s a shade that can either be subtly blended in during the day or be applied more boldly for a summer evening look. Although it’s on the expensive side for a single eyeshadow shade, it’s a high quality shadow that’s perfect for embracing the lilac trend.

Summer Makeup Essentials Lips: Lily Lolo Natural Lipstick – ‘Romantic Rose’

This is an old reliable for me and a lipstick that I mentioned in my summer makeup round up last year. I’ve tried different lipstick brands and shades, but there isn’t one so far for me that beats Lily Lolo’s ‘Romantic Rose’ shade. It really is the ideal pinky summer shade that works with just about any eyeshadow colour. This is a lipstick that will stay on my lips all day, even after eating and drinking. It’s easy to reapply on the go too and it’s a product that I find myself re-buying each summer.

Nails: Revolution High Gloss Nail Polish – ‘Dusk’

Every pink lipstick needs a pink nail varnish to match, and my summer go to this year is Revolution’s nail varnish in shade ‘Dusk.’ It’s a lovely, darker pink shade that goes with just about any outfit, and I prefer it to some of the lighter pinks I’ve worn before. This nail varnish is one that definitely needs a top coat as it will chip without it, but just one layer of the shade itself makes nails look lovely and glossy. It’s excellent value for money too and I know I’ll be re-buying this shade of varnish in the future.

Are there any summer makeup products that you’re loving this year?
