So I managed to take a rather long, unexpected break from blogging. It wasn’t planned but I’m glad it happened because I’m now more ready than ever to get back into posting regular content that I’m happy with! One thing that made me want to start writing again was this product – Lily Lolo’s Illuminator. I bought it at the start of the summer as I really wanted to try something different with my makeup and see whether it made a difference. I can definitely say it was a worthwhile purchase!
I chose the shade “rosé” as I’d read that it was the best shade for fair skin like mine. The pinky colour of the illuminator is just right for my skin as it isn’t too bold and doesn’t look darker than the rest of my base makeup. This highlight is so subtle, which is just what I was looking for, so if you’re looking for more of a statement highlighter the “champagne” or “bronzed” shades may be worth a try.
I like to apply the illuminator to the tops of my cheekbones and the tip of my nose for a pinky glow, perfect for the summer! This shade of highlighter works really well with pink eyeshadow and lip shades, a look that I think compliments my fair skin. As the powder is compressed, it doesn’t spill when the lid is opened and only a small amount of highlighter needs to be used to create a reflective look.
Many of Lily Lolo’s products are vegan friendly, including this illuminator, and there are no ingredients that react badly with sensitive skin (at least not with mine). The illuminator costs £16.00, so it’s on the more expensive side, but I can tell by the small amount I’ve been using each time that it’s going to last me a long time! I love the shimmery glow it creates too, and I think the quality really is reflected in the price. I’ve found that the highlighter will last all evening and night without fading, so I don’t have to worry about reapplying.
Overall, I’d say the price of the Lily Lolo Illuminator is justified by its quality and longevity. For those who like more subtle and less heavy makeup, this is the ideal illuminator. It has been kind to my skin so far and is easy to apply, even for someone who is no makeup artist (me!). I know I’ll be using this throughout the summer and beyond and I’m very glad I took the plunge to try something different. You can find Lily Lolo’s Illuminator in “rosé”, “champagne” or “bronzed” for £16.00 here.
