I think the Summer months are my favourite fashion-wise as I can really mix up my outfits. Skirts are a definite Summer essential for me and I don’t think I wore my skirts enough last year. I like that they’re stylish and comfy and make a perfect alternative to shorts. I tend to be drawn to denim skirts as I like the thicker material and the versatility of being able to dress them up or down. I wanted to share two different ways that I style skirts for the Summer, both ideal for creating a casual look on a hot day!
For my first outfit, I restyled this polka dot skirt from Topshop that I bought a few years ago. I love the polka dot design and the slightly frayed edge of the skirt. I paired the skirt with a black lettuce edge t-shirt from Pull&Bear and black sandals from New Look. I bought both these items recently as I thought they’d work well with the skirt as part of a daytime outfit. The sandals are really comfy for daytime wear and the t-shirt is one that could be worn with just about anything. This skirt can really be dressed up too and goes well with a pair of heels to transition into the evening.
My second outfit is a denim skirt from Pull&Bear that really has become a staple in my wardrobe. I really don’t know what I did before I had a good denim skirt to rely on for a summer-y outfit. I matched the skirt with a vest top from New Look, as I like that the buttons go with those on the skirt. The colour of this vest is a lovely dark orange that I think makes a nice contrast to the blue denim skirt. I finished the outfit off with these leopard print sandals (also from New Look) as they’re so comfy to slip on if it’s a warm, sunny day.
I’m definitely more of a skirts and dresses wearer than I used to be, and I think there’s no better time to wear them as an alternative to jeans or shorts. These two skirts are my favourites for the Summer as they’re comfy and versatile whilst also working well as a part of different stylish, daytime outfits.
