For me, a wardrobe staple at this time of year has always been a shirt. They’re a perfect smart-casual alternative to t-shirts and I like how they can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I used to be a bit of a shirt hoarder and, when I started this year with a wardrobe clear out, I narrowed down the shirts I have to the ones I actually wear regularly. I wanted to share how I style my two favourite shirts to create casual, daytime looks for the Spring and Summer.
For my first outfit, I styled a shirt which I know will be in my wardrobe for a long time. I’m a sucker for stripes and always reach for this stripy shirt from Pull&Bear in the Spring. My favourite jeans to style it with are these ripped, high waisted jeans from ASOS, as the colour goes perfectly and the shirt tucks in nicely. Because the shirt is quite long, it can be worn tied up at the front too, which can be better on a hot day. I finished the outfit off with these nude trainers, also from Pull&Bear, as they really work to keep the outfit casual.
My second outfit is a short-sleeved shirt that I styled in a post last year with white jeans and rope sandals. I love how light and airy this shirt is and I wanted to change up how I styled it this year. I paired the shirt with cropped blue jeans from Topshop and leopard print sandals from New Look. I wasn’t sure if the pattern clash would work at first, but as the colours of the sandals and shirt are very similar, I think it matches well. These cropped jeans are a Spring/Summer essential in my wardrobe and I like how they work in a casual outfit with the patterned shirt and sandals.
Shirts are an item that I will always love to style and are a definite must for the Spring. I’m glad I’ve managed to restyle these two for this year and make the most of other items in my wardrobe.
