I’m really not much of a dress wearer but, as I promised myself this year, my aim is to try and mix up my wardrobe. As it’s now beginning to feel more like Spring, there’s no better time to invest in a new dress ready for the (hopefully) slightly warmer weather. Not surprisingly, I’ve chosen a denim dress as my latest buy, and I just love the pinafore style of it. It means that I can wear either a jumper underneath if it’s a bit colder or a shirt or t-shirt when the weather warms up more, and because it’s black, pretty much any colour works well with it.
The fit of the dress is another thing I love. It’s not too tight so jumpers fit easily underneath it, and I think the length is perfect; not too long or too short. Because it can be worn with lots of different types of tops, it’s a great item for the transition from Winter through to Spring. The pockets at the front are really handy too, and I love that the denim is a little bit faded at the edges, giving the dress an almost vintage feel.
Here, I’ve matched the denim dress with a cream jumper from Topshop (which is super cosy), black tights and black heeled boots. The jumper is quite thick but still fits nicely underneath, showing just how versatile the dress is. If you want to add a bit of colour, a colourful patterned shirt works brilliantly with the dress too, perfect if you’re looking for an alternative, casual evening outfit. When it does feel a bit colder, I wear my long grey coat over the dress, which creates a slightly smarter look when combined with the heeled boots.
You’ll find this sleeveless denim dress over on Pull&Bear (again, I know) here at £25.99. The dress is really well made and can be worn in all seasons, and for that reason I think it’s great value for money. If you’re not much of a dress wearer like me, this is something a little bit different and I definitely think it’s a welcome addition to my wardrobe.
