The past few months have had their ups and downs for me, and I’m sure that’s the same for everyone. Having to adjust to a new way of life and not being able to do the things I did before isn’t always easy. It’s made me realise that I took certain things for granted before lockdown and the situation has really made me think about what I’m grateful for right now. I thought I’d write a positive post and share 5 things I’m grateful for, all of which have really helped me to cope during lockdown.
1 – Family and Friends
The current situation has really made me appreciate my family, friends and boyfriend even more than I already did. I’ve been in lockdown with my family, and having them around me has certainly made the experience a lot better. My friends have been on hand to have lovely Facetime chats with (and now socially distanced walks too!) and it’s great to know they’re always there to talk to. Liam has really helped to keep me positive, as not being able to see him was really tough at times.
2 – Time
Having to stay at home for so many weeks has meant that I’ve been given time that I didn’t have before. I’m grateful for the time I’ve had to get jobs done that I’ve been meaning to do for a while. Also, the slowed down pace of life has meant I have always had enough sleep, had more time to make better food and look after my health by exercising more. I really hope I can take these things into my post-lockdown life.
3 – My Garden
I must admit that I really have taken having a garden for granted until now. Going out into my own outside space has really helped me during lockdown, as it means I can enjoy the sunshine without having to worry about going out and about. I will definitely make sure I’m out in the garden as much as I can when the weather is nice, as I really want to make the most of the space I have.
4 – Technology
I think we’d all agree that lockdown would’ve been a lot harder without modern technology. The ability to use Facetime or Zoom etc to talk to friends and loved ones that I haven’t been able to see really is something to be grateful for. Technology is also what provides access to at home workouts and online courses, both of which I’ve done during lockdown to help me stay focused and do something positive for myself.
5 – My Blog
Without my blog, I really don’t know what I’d have done with most of this time. I’m grateful that I made this blog and that I’ve had it to focus on all these weeks. Having a space on the Internet to be creative and do what I enjoy is one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’m really glad that I learnt how to set up and manage my blog myself, as well as create all my content mostly from home.
