5 Festive Beauty Must Haves

by notsomousybrown

This time of year is my favourite when it comes to all things makeup and beauty. The festive season is a brilliant time to try out some new beauty items and I’ve recently tried out a few new products from the high street. I’ve branched out to brands I hadn’t tried before and I’ve liked experimenting with different makeup looks that are a little more festive. I wanted to share what I thought about 5 makeup and beauty items I’ve bought recently, all at excellent high street prices!

Festive Beauty 1: NYX Proof It! – Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer (£6.00 – Boots)

I didn’t used to use eyeshadow primer that often, but now I realise the difference it makes, I wear it daily! The Proof It! Eyeshadow Primer by NYX is a liquid primer and is different to the pressed primer I’ve used before. At first I used too much product and it took a while to dry, but I soon realised I only needed to use a little to get good results. Just a small amount of the primer works brilliantly to keep eye shadow in place. I’ve found that since using NYX’s primer, my eye shadow has stayed well in place all day, so it’s perfect for the party season when eye shadow might have to last into the evening!

2: Barry M In The Buff Palette (£6.99 – Superdrug)

The In The Buff Palette by Barry M is definitely one of the most versatile eye shadow palettes I’ve ever used. The neutral shades are brilliant for creating daytime looks, with some shimmery shades thrown in to transition to the evening. The shades blend together nicely and the palette is small enough to take with me if I’m on the go. I use quite a few of the shades in the palette, so it’s good value for money for me and I don’t feel like any colours are going to waste.

Festive Beauty3: L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Excess Mascara (£10.99 – Boots)

I’ve used L’Oreal mascaras in the past, but the Volume Million Lashes Excess Mascara is a new one for me. Even though the price is a little higher for a high street product, it’s justified by the amazing volume and length the mascara gives to lashes. The mascara always lasts me all day and I’ve never had to reapply it for the evening. I bought the mascara a while ago and there’s still plenty of product left, so the higher price does go a long way!

4: Barry M Classic Nail Paint – Siren Red (£2.99 – Superdrug)

Sometimes a classic product really is the best, and at just £2.99 Barry M’s Classic Nail Paint in Siren Red is a real bargain! I love a red nail at Christmas time and I think this is the ideal festive shade. The nail varnish goes onto my nails well as the brush is a good shape and easy to use. One coat is enough for nails to look party ready, and I use Barry M’s topcoat over the top to stop the varnish from chipping. At such a good price, this nail varnish is a must for the festive season.

5: Revolution Pro New Neutral Satin Matte Lipstick Stiletto (£5.00 – Superdrug)

I usually go for a pink rather than a red lipstick but, as it’s coming up to Christmas, I wanted to try something different. This new Satin Matte Lipstick by Revolution Pro in shade Stiletto is the perfect red I’d been looking for. The lipstick itself is creamy and can be applied easily, and just a small amount of product creates a bright, red lip look. The staying power of the lipstick is excellent and I’ve definitely got my eye on some of the other shades in the collection!
