In my first post of 2020, I shared my goals for the year ahead for both my blog and life. Little did I know then that we’d be experiencing the kind of lockdown situation that we’ve had for most of this year. Because of the lockdown, I actually had a lot more time to work on my blog than I usually would, and so I think I’ve made good progress with my 2020 blog goals so far. As I’m all for looking at the positives, I wanted to share how I’ve been getting on with the 10 blog goals I set myself at the start of the year and how I’m going to carry on achieving in the second half of 2020.
– Reach 1,800 followers on Instagram: I’m really pleased that I have achieved this goal already this year and I think being consistent on Instagram has definitely helped. I’ve set myself a new aim of 2,000 followers by the end of the year, which I think is achievable if I keep up with the consistency.
– Rewrite my ‘About Me’ page: One thing I worked on during lockdown was my ‘About Me’ page, and I completely rewrote it to better reflect myself and my blog. I first wrote it when I was 19 and had just started blogging, so I’m glad I could finally tick this job off the to do list.
– Use DSLR more for photos: This is a goal I haven’t been able to do much of, as the lockdown meant I wasn’t with my boyfriend and I couldn’t use the DSLR. I’m hoping that for the rest of year I can use the DSLR more for photos, and perhaps rope in Liam as my outfit photographer too!
– Customise my blog’s layout and appearance: I am constantly looking at how best to customise my blog’s theme, and I did a bit of customisation during lockdown. There’s definitely more I can do though, so I will be carrying on with this goal in the second half of the year.
– Reach 100 page likes on Facebook: Right now, I’m on 83 page likes, so not far off the 100 mark! I hope that by sharing my page on my other social channels and inviting a few people I know to like it, I’ll have reached 100 likes by the end of 2020.
– Fix the Instagram slider widget: This turned out to be a lot simpler to fix than I first thought. All I had to do was update my theme and the Instagram slider widget worked perfectly fine. It’s a part of my blog that I love so I’m really glad it’s back working now.
– Archive old posts: I’m really pleased that this is another job I’ve managed to tick off this year, and now all my older posts have been moved to my archives category. It means that the posts that are still in my main categories are the most relevant to my blog now, but my older content hasn’t been deleted either.
– Schedule tweets every day: So far this year, I’ve made sure I have tweets scheduled for every day of the week, and I schedule them a lot further in advance than I did before. It’s good to know that my Twitter content is sorted before a new week has even begun.
– Read up on Pinterest for blogging: This is something that is still on my to do list for the year, as I really want to know how I can get the most out of Pinterest. My Pinterest engagement is really good, so I want to find out how I can translate this into blog traffic.
– Read up on SEO: During lockdown, I took some time to research how to improve my blog’s SEO and find out what some of the key words associated with SEO actually meant. I think I’m now more aware of how I can optimize my posts so they can be found more easily in search engines.
I am pleased with what I’ve managed to achieve so far with my 2020 blog goals and I hope that I can get the rest ticked off by the end of the year. Do you have any goals that you want to achieve before 2020 is over?
